The Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works embarked on a wide ranging, multi-year programme to re-engineer its Supply Chain function in order to align with the latest legislation and trends in world-class procurement. Commerce Edge was appointed as the lead consultant on this re-engineering exercise. On 1 April 2014, the new Accounting Officer (AO) system encapsulating these new policies, procedures and operating instructions was successfully issued. This comprehensive yet pioneering framework now forms the foundation for new organisational structures and enabling technology.
